he Inter-Faith Activity and Partnership for Peace (IFAPP) in collaboration with Perspectivity, a non-for-profit organization based in the Netherlands successfully held a 4-day capacity building workshop on ‘Common Cause for Improved Inter-Faith Relations’. This held from February 3 – 6, 2014 at the training room of the Lux Terra Leadership Foundation office complex, Villa Nova Estate, Abuja. In attendance were trainers from Islamic Education Trust, Minna, Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, Abuja, Inter-faith Mediation Centre, Kaduna, Dialogue, Reconciliation and Peace Centre, Jos, Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria, Movement for Islamic Culture and Awareness, and representatives from Nongo U Kristu Ken Sudan Hen Tiv (NKST) Abuja.
At the end of the training course, participants acquired an enhanced understanding of the complexity of factors which lead to interfaith conflicts, improved knowledge and skills in conflict management and resolution, more information and understanding about people of other faith traditions, and would be better able to communicate without prejudice with people from other faith traditions. The training also included a Training of Trainers course to sustain capacity building for inter-faith dialogue facilitators.
