On Wednesday, December 11, 2013, Inter-Faith Activity and Partnership for Peace (IFAPP) participated in the Leaders for Tomorrow programme which held in Abuja with 28 Muslim and Christian student leaders from 7 northern universities participating in the programme. The selected institutions include:

1. University of Jos
2. Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto
3. University of Maiduguri
4. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi
5. Federal University of Technology, Minna
6. Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
7. Bayero University Kano

The Leaders for Tomorrow is a peace building initiative run by British Council, which trains student leaders of Nigerian universities in conflict resolution skills. The project develops leadership and dialogue skills in student leaders to help them speak clearly and confidently about the various issues confronting youths in Nigeria. Through this process the young leaders can help to shape Nigeria’s future. The project encourages young leaders to reflect on Nigeria and its place in the world and ways in which Nigerian students can help meet the challenges of the future.

After a talk given by Rev. Father George Ehusani, four of the OSIWA sponsored publications were distributed to the student leaders. The publications are:

1. Muslims Ask Christians Answer
2. Relations with Non-Muslims
3. Jihad and the Spread of Islam
4. Protection of Churches, Synagogues and Mosques in Islam

DVDs of the Inter-faith Forum which feature discussions and dialogue on topical issues of life and faith designed to enhance mutual understanding and dispel misconceptions among adherents of different faiths in Nigeria, were also distributed to the participants.
